Eyelid Surgery | Bethesda MD, Washington DC, Virginia

Excess eyelid skin, drooping of the eyelid and puffiness around the eyes can be an obvious hallmark of aging producing an older and tired appearance. Eyelid surgery can help remove the excess skin and bulging fat from both the upper and lower eyelids. Dr. Michaels' goal is to leave your eyes with a natural, youthful and refreshed appearance. Dr. Michaels has a conservative approach to eyelid surgery to avoid the "hollowed out" look that occurs with the excess removal of eyelid skin and fat.

During your consultation, Dr. Michaels will evaluate your entire periorbital region (eyes, brows, and cheeks) as these three areas can affect the appearance of your eyes. Depending on your anatomy, a brow lift or mid-facelift may be necessary in addition to the eyelid surgery to achieve the optimal result. Some patients have drooping of the upper eyelid, also known as ptosis. This will also be evaluated during your consultation and Dr. Michaels can correct this at the same time as your upper eyelid procedure.

Dr. Michaels often performs eyelid surgery under local anesthesia in his office. This has the added benefit of no additional anesthesia or hospital costs.
