Breast Lift | Maryland, Washington DC, Virginia

Pregnancy, weight loss or advancing age can lead to the loss of breast volume and relaxation of the ligaments of your breast. This will cause your breast to sag and depending on your anatomy, your nipple position to drop. The goal of a breast lift, also known as a mastopexy, is to tighten the breast skin, elevate the nipple and areola to a more pleasing position on the chest and restore volume as necessary. If you have enlarged areolas, the size will be made proportional during your procedure.

There are many breast lift techniques to reshape and rejuvenate your breasts. During your consultation, Dr. Michaels will carefully listen to your concerns and goals. After examining the degree of volume loss and the descent of the nipple, also known as ptosis, Dr. Michaels will discuss with you the various procedures and incision placement options necessary to meet your needs.

If you desire an increase in breast volume in addition to tightening the breast skin and lifting the nipple and areola position, a breast implant can be inserted at the same time as your breast lift. This is also called breast lift with augmentation. If you have undergone significant weight loss, it may be possible to avoid using implants and to use your own tissue to increase breast volume. This is also known as breast lift with auto-augmentation. Depending on your age, a recent mammogram will be required prior to your procedure.
